Bean Baby Clothes is a Portuguese brand of clothing and accessories for babies and young children, based in Porto. It began in 2016 on the initiative of two mothers who, with no experience of the textile trade, spent months travelling the country in search of factories willing to make the pieces they could not find on sale. The result is classically styled clothing built for everyday wear: collared bodysuits, easy-open babygrows, rompers, pyjamas, sets, trousers, jumpers and jackets, skirts and dresses, dungarees and overalls, in sizes from newborn to six years. Alongside the clothing, the brand makes layette and accessories — bibs, cloth nappies and swaddles, blankets and shawls, bonnets and hats, socks and tights, bedding, bags and changing mats. The collections are organised by theme, each with its own print and palette. Every collection is designed and made in Norte de Portugal, drawing on the region's decades of textile know-how. The brand treats that closeness as a deliberate alternative to fast fashion: keeping production nearby lets it control every seam and the softness of every fabric, which matters when the pieces sit against a newborn's skin. The same principle produced Peekaboo, the line Bean Baby Clothes created for shops and wholesale partners.
