Sobre Coloradd
ColorADD is a color identification code created for people with color blindness. It was developed by the Portuguese designer Miguel Neiva, a lecturer at the Universidade do Minho, out of the research he carried out for his master's, and it rests on a simple idea: associate geometric shapes with the three primary colors — blue, yellow and red — so that combining the symbols represents the remaining colors, exactly as mixing pigments does. White and black have symbols of their own. The system neither replaces the color nor alters it: it adds a symbol to it. That lets anyone who cannot tell certain shades apart identify them unaided, without depending on other people and without having to flag their condition. The company was set up in 2010 and is based in Porto. The code is applied today in more than ninety countries and across very different sectors — colored pencils and school supplies, textile labeling, public transport, hospital signage, packaging, maps and cartography — having reached millions of pencils and more than a hundred million garment labels. For schools and universities, ColorADD maintains a pro bono model, resting on the idea that color identification should be within reach from the earliest years of learning.
