Hardcore Fofo is a Portuguese subversive-embroidery brand, founded in May 2010 in Chiado, Lisboa, by Ana Saramago. After leaving a career in information technology, Ana devoted herself to reviving vintage cross-stitch patterns and applying them to fashion and interior decoration products — cushions, towels, tea towels, doilies, embroidery hoops, jewelry (costume pieces and necklaces), boxer shorts and mugs, among others — always with a modern design and irreverent messages that give the brand a rebellious, distinctive personality. It came to wider notice with pieces such as the "Tirar Antes de Pinar" socks, which went viral for their subversive humor combined with handmade quality.
