Tribo do Sol is a Portuguese Beach clothing and accessories brand, born in 1996 out of a group of friends' love of travel, nature and reggae culture. The idea came on a summer trip that year and gained a store of its own in 1999, at Praia da Barra in Gafanha da Nazaré, in the municipality of Ílhavo, where the brand is still based. The range includes hooded sweatshirts (known locally as "kangurus"), sweatshirts, jackets, T Shirts, pants, shorts and dresses for men, women and children, along with towels, caps, beanies, bags and backpacks. All production is done in Portugal, using national raw materials and labor — a deliberate choice by the brand, in line with a philosophy of local trade and closeness to coastal communities and beach culture. Tribo do Sol chose not to distribute through shopping centers, preferring to keep the direct link to the seaside way of life that inspired it from the start.
