CUSCUZ is a father-and-daughter project, based in a village near Coimbra, which has been working with reclaimed natural materials since 2015. It started as a university project — initially with its site at cuscuzdesign.com — and in 2023 entered a new, more mature phase, today at cuscuz.studio, keeping the CUSCUZ name throughout. Production is made-to-order, in small limited runs, always by hand — the daughter signs the design, the father brings the command of handwork. The catalog includes sunglasses, accessories such as bags and caps, and objects for the home such as vases, bowls and candlesticks, all tied together by the same idea: valuing what is made slowly and does not repeat. The brand takes on a commitment to environmental responsibility, favoring reused materials and a more conscious relationship between life in society and the environment — quality before quantity, as they like to put it.
