Camport is a Portuguese men's and women's footwear brand that grew out of Fábrica de Calçado Campeão Português — the Portuguese Champion Footwear Factory — founded in 1955 in Guimarães by Comendador Domingos Torcato Ribeiro. In the 1960s and 1970s the factory was turning out more than a thousand pairs a day and was a pioneer in polyurethane injection, training so many people over the decades that it became known as the university of Portuguese footwear. The Camport trademark was registered in 1986, the name formed from the opening syllables of Campeão Português. Since 2015 it has been part of the Portuguese textile group Valérius, having reopened with its former staff. All the footwear is produced in Portugal and made entirely by hand, from design through to finishing. The collections pair comfort with current trends through technical solutions such as temperature regulation, water-resistant systems, lightweight shock-absorbing polyurethane soles, elastic materials for fit and removable leather insoles, covering shoes, sneakers, loafers, sandals, outdoor boots and accessories.
