Claus Porto is a Portuguese brand of soaps, fragrances and cosmetics with more than 130 years of history. It was founded in Porto in 1887 by the Germans Ferdinand Claus and George Schweder, as Claus & Schweder — the country's first soap factory — and is today the high-end brand of the Ach. Brito group. The wrapping is part of the product: the labels and papers, inspired by the Belle Époque, come out of the house's lithographic archive, which holds more than a century of patterns and illustrations. Each soap is still wrapped by hand, one by one. Production takes place at the group's factory in Fajozes, in the municipality of Vila do Conde, opened in 2007, which brought design, manufacturing, packaging and warehousing together under one roof. In Porto, the city the brand is named after, a store-museum created to mark the 130th anniversary has been open since 2017. The range runs from soaps to eaux de cologne, scented candles and creams, and is present in more than 60 countries.
