Sobre Dois Corvos Cervejeira
Dois Corvos Cervejeira is an independent craft brewery in Lisboa, founded in 2015 by Susana Cascais and Scott Steffens. The couple lived for more than a decade in Seattle, where they worked in craft beer — she in marketing and advertising, he brewing since 1994 — and brought that experience to Marvila, where they were the first brewery to set up, in a former industrial area then given over to abandonment. The name comes from the two ravens flanking the ship on the coat of arms of Lisboa: legend has it that this is how the body of S. Vicente reached the city by sea, guarded by the two birds. Production started on an 800-liter rig designed by the founders themselves and almost entirely manual. In 2019 the operation moved to a plant of around 1,700 m², with ten 6,000-liter fermenters, a centrifuge and a canning line, where all the house's beer is now made. Three to four new beers come out each month. The catalog runs through lagers and pilsners, NEIPAs and IPAs, imperial stouts, barleywines and quads, as well as wild beers and sours fermented with wild yeasts and bacteria, sometimes with fruit, grape must or spices. The barrel program is among the most extensive in Europe: more than 350 barrels of Porto, Moscatel, Carcavelos, bourbon, whiskey, rum and wine, and a 120-year-old clay talha as well. The brand keeps two taprooms open to the public in Lisboa — the Marvila one, on Rua Capitão Leitão, with 17 taps, a kitchen and a regular music program, and the Intendente one, with 12 taps and a selection of wines from small Portuguese producers.
