Sobre JJ Heitor
JJ Heitor Shoes is the own brand of Joaquim José Heitor, a footwear factory founded in 1963 in Fornos, Santa Maria da Feira. The name is the founder's, who had emigrated to Venezuela in 1955 with the idea of returning and setting up a shoe factory in Portugal — which is what he did eight years later. The company began by making men's footwear and is today in the family's third generation, specializing in women's shoes. The own brand was launched in 2013 and covers sandals, ballet flats, loafers, boots and heels, built with different techniques depending on the model: cemented, Sacchetto or Blake stitched. Alongside the brand, the house continues to produce for third parties, a service it keeps open to anyone wanting to develop a footwear line of their own. The environmental side is unusually well documented for a factory of this size. The company has an environmental management system certified to ISO 14001, works with hides from tanneries certified by the Leather Working Group, holds FSC certification and is a member of Cascale and SEDEX, alongside the SA 8000 standard on the social side. It states that it cut CO2 emissions per shoe produced by 56% between 2019 and 2024, eliminated plastic from its packaging and reuses leather offcuts in accessories.
