Lachoix is a Portuguese women's footwear brand founded in 2018 by Fátima Carvalho, with its head office and store in Príncipe Real, in Lisboa. The name comes from the French «choix» — choice — and sums up what the brand sets out to do: shoes that bring together comfort, quality and elegance without giving up any of the three. The starting point was the Tomboy loafer, androgynous in inspiration, which remains the house's most recognizable model. From there the collection widened to ballet flats, sandals, boots, low and mid heels and a few accessories. Leather, suede, shearling and velvet are the materials of choice, with hides sourced mainly from Italian and Spanish tanneries, many of them certified by the Leather Working Group. All production is done in Portugal, in small shoemaking ateliers in the Norte of the country, where much of the work is still done by hand. The brand produces in limited quantities — a deliberate choice, which it frames as a way of preserving artisanal know-how and cutting waste. In December 2021 Lachoix opened LACHOIX STUDIO, on Rua Dom Pedro V: more than a store, it is the atelier where the collections are designed and a space with a regular program of events, workshops and collaborations with other makers. Beyond its own store and online sales, the brand also reaches retailers in Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Greece and Switzerland.
