Sobre Lemon Jelly
Lemon Jelly is a Portuguese injection-molded footwear brand, launched in 2013 by Procalçado, a maker of soles and footwear components based in Vila Nova de Gaia. The shoes are designed and manufactured at the Grijó plant, in the same municipality, and are marked by two signatures: color — vivid patterns, transparencies and glossy finishes — and the scent of lemon that comes off the material itself. The brand is entirely vegan, with no leather, wool, feathers or any material of animal origin, and is recognized as such by PETA. The catalog runs from rain boots and sandals to ankle boots and tall boots, and extends to accessories such as bags, socks and ponchos. The circular side of the business is structural rather than decorative. The Wasteless Act line incorporates a minimum of 50% waste, the linings are made with 60% recycled plastic from bottles, and the black soles carry 20% recovered material, with production waste fed back into manufacturing instead of spun off into a separate recycled line. 2020 brought Closing the Loop, which collects used footwear returned by customers so it can re-enter the process, and later NYSSA, presented as the first 100% circular bag. The factory runs on a self-consumption array of 920 solar panels installed in 2017, and Procalçado holds ISO 14001 environmental certification. The brand today reaches around 30 markets, from Germany and France to the United States.
