Sobre MATE Ceramics
MATE Ceramics is a young ceramics brand founded by the German-born designer Marie Technau, who moved to Portugal and now lives and works in her atelier near Ericeira, in Mafra. After a career in communication design, Marie found in ceramics a more tactile, intuitive and slower way of working, and makes every piece by hand, staying close to the raw material throughout the creative process. The pieces, in stoneware, are fired at high temperatures to ensure durability, and are dishwasher-safe and food-safe. In 2023, Marie also founded the Keramik Club with her studio partner Franziska Nebel — a space for ceramics workshops, creativity and slowing down. The atelier can be visited by appointment.
