Sobre PICA·PAU Woodcraft

PICA·PAU Woodcraft is a Portuguese brand founded in 2016 in Lisboa by Manuel Dias da Silva and two colleagues from the Nova School of Business & Economics. The name evokes the pica-pau, the woodpecker, the bird that works wood — and that is exactly the brand's calling: turning natural materials such as bamboo, red sandalwood and ebony into distinctive sunglasses, made by hand by skilled artisans. Choosing to replace plastic and metal with natural, renewable alternatives was not only an aesthetic decision — it was a deliberate stance, in a market dominated by industrial materials of high environmental impact. Every pair of PICA·PAU glasses is a piece of woodcraft: worked to the millimeter, with a texture, warmth and authenticity synthetic materials can never replicate. The brand's environmental commitment goes beyond materials. For every pair of glasses sold, PICA·PAU plants five trees through partnerships with international reforestation organizations such as the Trillion Tree Campaign, Trees For the Future and WWF. Even the product tag is made of seed paper — it can be cut out and planted, to grow into a flower or a herb. PICA·PAU distributes its glasses in Portugal and internationally, aimed at customers looking for distinctive accessories with an ecological conscience and an identity of their own. A Lisboa brand that started at a business school and grew to show that sustainable design and style can go hand in hand.
