Sobre Pelcor

Pelcor is a Portuguese brand of fashion and home accessories in cork, headquartered in Lisboa and originating in São Brás de Alportel, at the heart of the Algarve's cork region. It was born in 2003, when Sandra Correia, granddaughter of the founder of Novacortiça, launched an umbrella in cork leather and opened the way to a more urban, feminine reading of a raw material until then associated mostly with industry. The collection later widened to bags and purses, footwear, hats, clothing, cases for phones and laptops, office items, pieces for the home and pet accessories, with a vegan line and a children's line. Cork is stripped from the cork oak every nine years, without felling the tree, which regenerates naturally between strippings — a cycle that makes the material a light, waterproof and recyclable alternative to leather. Because the bark varies from tree to tree, no two pieces are exactly alike. The brand today belongs to MOL – My Own Label, which also owns the Corky by Pelcor and Home by Pelcor lines, and sells through its online store and through resellers in several international markets.
