Sobre Planeta Tangerina

Planeta Tangerina is a Portuguese publisher of illustrated books based in Carcavelos, in the municipality of Cascais, where it also operates as a design and communication studio. It was born in 2000 as a studio, founded by Isabel Minhós Martins, Madalena Matoso, Bernardo P. Carvalho and João Gomes Abreu, and published its first book as an independent publisher in 2004. Its format of choice is the picture book — the kind in which text and image complete each other rather than one illustrating the other — a choice that explains why its books are read by adults as much as by children. The picture book catalog was later joined by the Dois Passos e Um Salto collection, created in 2012 for older readers, and by a non-fiction line that began in 2014 with Lá Fora. The publisher collaborates regularly with the education departments of museums and municipal councils. Recognition came early and mostly from abroad: Publisher of the Year at the LER/Booktailors awards in 2009, best European children's publisher at the Feira de Bolonha — the Bologna Book Fair — in 2013, and two nominations for the Astrid Lindgren award. The books are translated into more than twenty languages, from Spanish to Korean and Mandarin.
