Sobre Renova

Renova is a Portuguese tissue paper company based in Torres Novas, where it keeps production beside the source of the river Almonda. The brand's origins go back to 1818, the date of the first records of a Renova watermark on paper made on the site the company still occupies today; the plant that gave rise to the present company was built in 1939 as Fábrica de Papel do Almonda. The early years went to writing, printing and packaging paper. The turn towards household and sanitary tissue came at the end of the 1950s and became the main activity: toilet paper, kitchen rolls, napkins, tissues, wipes and feminine hygiene products. The brand became known internationally for its commitment to color and design — it was the first in the world to launch black toilet paper — and for deliberately provocative advertising campaigns, which turned an everyday product into a brand object. It runs two industrial plants and a logistics center in Torres Novas and a third plant in Saint-Yorre, France, and sells in around seventy countries. It was the first to certify a paper range with the European Union Ecolabel and holds ISO 9001, ISO 14001, EMAS, ISO 45001 and ISO 50001 certification.
