Sanjo é uma marca portuguesa de calçado, fundada em 1933 em Braga, em Felgueiras, em Lisboa.
Sobre Sanjo
Sanjo was born in 1933 in São João da Madeira, and not in a shoe factory: it began inside the Companhia Industrial de Chapelaria, a hat maker. As the hat fell out of use, the company looked for new directions for vulcanized rubber and arrived at the first Portuguese sneakers. The name is an abbreviation of the town it came from. Through the 1950s, 60s and 70s, the rubber sole and hard-wearing canvas made the brand a common sight in schools, on the streets and in national sport, and in the 1980s the K100 and K200 models moved from the sports hall into everyday wear. The opening of the market to international brands changed that picture, and the factory declared bankruptcy in 1996. The brand returned in 2019, when it was bought by M2BEWEAR, based in Braga. Production came back to Portugal, today in a factory in Felgueiras, and the historic models were revised: the vulcanized sole gave way to a glued sole, and the upper canvas is GOTS-certified organic cotton over a vegan sole certified by INESCOP. New silhouettes joined the icons, along with a children's line and clothing — T Shirts, sweatshirts, jackets and accessories — plus collaborations with Portuguese designers and artists and versions in national materials such as burel. Sanjo opened its first own store in Bairro Alto, Lisboa, in 2023, and also reaches multi-brand stores in Spain, Germany, France, Italy and Sweden.
