Zástrás is a Portuguese brand of baby footwear, based in Oeiras. The idea came about in 2016, after the birth of the founders' third child, out of the difficulty of finding a shoe that did not keep slipping off the feet and that was comfortable and stylish at the same time. Years of testing followed, up to the brand's launch at the end of 2020. The baby booties cover the first 24 months and follow a logic close to barefoot: a wide toe box, a thin, flexible sole and no rigid structures, so the foot can develop at its own pace. The lining is 100% organic cotton, chosen for being breathable, hypoallergenic and suited to direct contact with a baby's sensitive skin. Environmental responsibility is the other guiding line: organic raw materials from sustainable production, packaging in recycled materials and a hand-sewn process designed to keep waste to a minimum. The pieces are made by hand in Portugal. The catalog is organized by collection — Fresh, Mid Season, Fluffy, Waterproof and Newborn Cookie — and has since widened to clothing and accessories. Beyond the online store, the brand is in around fourteen points of sale in Portugal, from Barcelos to Setúbal, and also reaches retailers in Spain, Switzerland and Sweden.
