A.Risca is a Portuguese handmade ceramics brand founded by Filipa Bento in November 2022, in Setúbal. After eight years as a nurse, Filipa left the profession to devote herself to pottery, learning the craft at Olaria Nova, founded in 1960 in Setúbal, where the master potter Manuel shapes the pieces on the wheel to her drawings, before each one passes into Filipa's hands for its final finish. The brand's name is a play on "arriscar", to take a risk — the decision that started the project. A.Risca makes clay pieces for the home and table, such as vases, jugs, bowls, mugs, glasses, money boxes and bottle holders, often personalized for special occasions; the wall vase is the best seller. The collections are named after volcanoes, a nod to the raw material's origin in the earth. The brand also runs small ceramics workshops in an intimate setting.
