Founded in 2014 by Ana Morais, in Porto, Casulo began as a brand of handmade macramé pieces in natural fibers, with a markedly minimalist design that later extended into interior projects such as Casulo Loft and Casa Molenga. Along the way came workshops across the country, window displays for brands including Hermès in Lisboa, and exhibitions in Portugal and abroad, with work published in Vogue, Casa Vogue Brasil, Kinfolk and Attitude. In 2023, Ana Morais launched a personal brand under her own name, and that is where the work continues today. The small-batch utilitarian ceramics — jugs, bowls, plates, mugs, glasses and coffee sets — have been joined by a line of linen and cotton table textiles, with tablecloths, placemats and napkins, as well as pieces in canvas and paper. The Sunrise, Claus, Amore, Arena and Suspiro collections keep the minimalist register of those first macramé pieces.
