Life in a Bag is a Portuguese brand of home growing kits, founded in June 2013 in Vila Nova de Famalicão by Alexandra Silva and Pedro Veloso — she a teacher, he a software engineer. It began as a hobby. Experiments in the garden at home, and the pots the couple brought indoors over the winter, eventually gave rise to the idea of a living gift, which is still the center of the brand. Each pack gathers everything needed for a complete crop — expanded clay, substrate, organic seeds and instructions — designed for people with little space and made from reusable, biodegradable materials. The range lets you grow aromatic herbs, edible flowers and organic microgreens indoors, with a minimalist design that treats the pot as a decorative object in its own right. The work was recognized in 2015 by the European Economic and Social Committee with the European Award for Excellent Design and Sustainability, and in the same year was a finalist in the innovation category of the Food and Nutrition Awards.
