Minimal Cork is a Portuguese brand of cork objects for the home, created by the architect António Brito and the designer Inês Brito, father and daughter. António designs the pieces, carrying into the scale of the object the work he has been doing in architecture for more than three decades; Inês, with experience on international projects, looks after the brand and the commercial side. The material of choice is laminated cork, explored in pared-back forms and combined, where a piece calls for it, with porcelain, glass or metal. The range covers the kitchen and the table above all — trays, trivets, serving platters, placemats, fruit bowls, bottle holders — joined by lamps, vases and garden items, desk accessories and small pieces such as bookmarks. Everything is made by hand, and the brand takes custom orders. The workshop is in Fânzeres, in the municipality of Gondomar, just outside Porto. Beyond the online store, the pieces reach the public through venues such as WOW in Vila Nova de Gaia, the Museu do Douro in Régua, Corkstore in Braga and the Feito de Portugal stores at the Porto, Lisboa and Faro airports.
