Dellium is a Portuguese healthy-food brand whose name comes from a shortening of the Latin for "delicate", reflecting a philosophy of joining delicacy to nutrition in every creation. The brand was born in February 2020, in the middle of the pandemic, when founder Bruno Pedroso — who had already changed his relationship with food through mountain biking and the loss of some 20 kg since 2012 — started experimenting at home with healthy bars to keep hunger at bay during his daily training. With the help of a nutritionist friend, who suggested swapping ordinary oats for gluten-free oats, the recipe was refined until it became a genuinely healthy and tasty product. What began as a hobby grew by word of mouth among friends until it became a business: after taking part in an innovation program in Loures, Bruno met Andreia Lucas through social media, the owner of a factory in Sintra, which went on to produce the bars strictly to the original recipe. Today Dellium offers organic bars with no preservatives (cocoa, lime and ginger, salted caramel and turmeric, coconut and beet), vegan nut butters (peanut, almond, pistachio, cashew, hazelnut, hazelnut with dark chocolate), granola and infusions and teas, with vegan, gluten-free and lactose-free options.
